AT&T Service
This AT&T phone can handle high-speed data connectivity via AT&T's 3G mobile broadband data network, which is available in most major metropolitan areas. The AT&T 3G network uses the dual-band UMTS 850/1900 MHz network, and this phone is also compatible with 2100 MHz 3G networks (found in international territories). The AT&T 3G network provides download speeds ranging from 700 Kbps to 1.7 Mbps, and upload speeds ranging from 500 Kbps to 1.2 Mbps. This makes it possible to enjoy a variety of feature-rich wireless multimedia services, and it gives you the advantage of offering simultaneous voice and data services. (For use outside the United States, an AT&T international data plan is recommended.)

In areas where the 3G network is not available, you'll continue to receive service on the AT&T EDGE network, which offers availability in more than 13,000 US cities and along some 40,000 miles of major highways. Providing average data speeds between 75-135Kbps, it's fast enough to support a wide range of advanced data services, including video and music clips, full picture and video messaging, high-speed color Internet access, and email on the go. You'll also enjoy quad-band GSM connectivity, which allows you to make calls in more than 190 countries and access data applications in the more than 135 countries where AT&T offers international data roaming.

You can take advantage of the AT&T Navigator GPS software and service, a full-featured premium navigation application that includes audible turn-by-turn directions, real-time traffic updates and re-routing options, and 3D moving maps (additional charges applicable). AT&T Navigator offers several other features to make your commute more enjoyable and reliable, including mobile access to Yellowpages.com. Additionally, AT&T Navigator is the only mobile phone-based GPS service that provides integrated speech recognition for address entry and points of interest search.

The tri-band 3G Blackberry Bold also offers integrated Wi-Fi networking and GPS for turn-by-turn directions as well as a 2-megapixel camera/camcorder.
With 3G connectivity, you'll be able to access AT&T's Cellular Video (CV) service and the Internet while on the go. And you get access to AT&T Mobile Music, which enables you to buy tracks while on the, access the Napster and eMusic subscription music services, stream music video, discover what's playing with Music ID song-recognition software, and find out what's hot with The Buzz music news portal. (A MEdia Max subscription bundle is recommended for accessing AT&T's Internet, video, and music services.)

The phone has a built-in web browser for MEdia Net downloads and mobile web browsing. AT&T's MEdia Net service enables you to receive and send emails, read news headlines, get weather updates, download games and ringtones, and more.

Phone Features
The elegant BlackBerry Bold smartphone features a lustrous black exterior, satin chrome-finished frame and stylish, leatherette backplate with a newly designed full QWERTY keyboard for exceptionally fast and easy typing and stunning half-VGA (480 x 320 at 217 ppi) color display that's fused to the undersurface of the lens, making images leap out with stunning definition and clarity. It also includes a trackball navigation system located on the top of the QWERTY keypad. The BlackBerry Bold also boasts a new acoustic design for enhanced phone listening quality and clarity and numerous premium phone features, including Speaker Independent Voice Recognition (SIVR) for Voice Activated Dialing (VAD).

The BlackBerry Bold smartphone's support for tri-band HSDPA and enterprise-grade Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g) networks and its next-generation 624 MHz mobile processor make short work of downloading email attachments, streaming video or rendering web pages. The BlackBerry Bold also includes 128 MB Flash memory plus 1 GB on-board storage memory, as well as a microSD/SDHC memory card slot that is conveniently accessible from a side door.

The Blackberry Bold delivers the legendary BlackBerry email experience. With BlackBerry service plans from AT&T, you can receive emails instantaneously from up to 10 email accounts (personal and enterprise). With BlackBerry push technology, you don't need to retrieve your email. BlackBerry devices are designed to remain on and continuously connected to the wireless network, allowing you to be discreetly notified as new email arrives. Support is also built-in for viewing email attachments (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WordPerfect, and PDF formats).

Make meeting requests, invite new attendees and more, all on your Blackberry Bold. Users without BlackBerry Enterprise Server support can manually sync with their desktop calendars and contacts via Bluetooth or USB using the included BlackBerry Desktop Software.

You'll enjoy enhanced Internet browsing on the Blackberry Bold. The trackball mimics a mouse, making it easy to navigate sites in Page View or Column View or to zoom in on specific parts of a web page, while various emulation settings allow you to choose between the full desktop-style HTML content and layout or the mobile version. Attachments can also now be downloaded from within the browser and there is support for watching streaming videos (RTSP, real-time streaming protocol).

The included BlackBerry Desktop Manager software comes with Roxio Media Manager for BlackBerry, which includes new features that make it easier to organize multimedia content as well as manage music, videos and recorded Voice Notes between a computer and the smartphone. It also optimizes video files for smooth full-screen playback on the BlackBerry Bold smartphone's large display with support for full-screen and widescreen formats.

Roxio Photosuite 9 LE is also included, allowing you to easily enhance pictures and create photo albums on your computer. In addition, the new BlackBerry Media Sync application allows you to sync your iTunes digital musical collections . BEWARE!!!!

Review Date: January 24, 2010
Reviewer: J. Lee, Boston, MA USA
I purchased the phone in August, and in January my phone wouldn't turn on. I contacted ATT and they told me they do not give warranty for 3rd party purchases, i would have to contact Amazon.com. I called Amazon.com and they told me about their 30 day return policy and i would have to go through insurance from ATT to get this phone replace. I just want everybody to think twice before they purchase this phone from Amazon.com. Yes it may save you some money on the equipment, but if anything goes wrong with the phone. you are out of luck and the only option you have is pay 100 bucks to get a refurbish phone from ATT that's if you have insurance on your phone. Blackberry does not handle any warranty issues. BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!
There are better smart phones

Reviewer: Richard,
I have had two BlackBerry Bolds in the past year my first blew the speaker-phone speaker in the first week I used it. My most recent BB Bold has dying pixels on the screen creating this slowly growing black hole in the upper left section of the screen, I will have it replaced because it is still under warranty and hopefully it will last longer than its predecessors. I have to say I am not very impressed with the blackberry bold, but don't take that to mean I am disappointed with blackberry altogether I do like many of the other products RIM has introduced over the years but I have had nothing but bad luck with the bold and its cheap workmanship.
External Speaker Problems

Review Date: December 25, 2009
Reviewer: Helicoper, Florida
I have had the BB bold 9000 for about 9 months now and am now on my 3rd replacement.
Evidentally there is an issue with the external speakers being compressed by the battery door. After a few months you are not able to hear the phone ring if there is any background noise, even with the volume turned all the way up. Hopefully they fix this flaw before my warranty runs out as I don't want to have to rig a $600 phone. There are some fixes to be found on the internet ([...]) but I am not willing to have to work around a engineering flaw.

With that said I love the phone!
Just bought my wife the new bold 9700. Only played with it for a few minutes but so far this looks to be a great phone.
It's a phone first, gadget second.

Review Date: November 19, 2009
Reviewer: GRR, Kansas City
This phone is a high-quality piece of equipment that is just the right size with just the right amount of gadgetry and pizzaz. I didn't want an iPhone b/c well, frankly, it's becoming a sort of marker for the rampant DB population in my opinion--I just wanted a nice phone that I could check email on, surf the internet on the rare occasion I needed to outside of work or home, and communicate with friends via text, FB, and messenger. This phone looks good, is very easy to navigate, and can take a licking and keep on ticking----I dropped it outside my house and it laid in thick dew for 10 hours---started right up the next day when I found it and let it dry out. The screen is absolutely perfect---good size and excellent resolution. The apps I've downloaded are useful and not difficult to navigate--but in all honesty, I don't anticipate using those very much. Great phone, and with the deals they have for it---great price. Get it now before you have to get the redesigned Bold they just released---smaller screen and not as attractive, IMO.
Is it the Bold? or is it AT&T? Something is wrong

Review Date: October 31, 2009
Reviewer: GaryS, St. Louis, MO United States
I've had a problem with the Bold since day 1. I've gone through three devices and still have the problem. My phone is echoey, bad service, misses calls, drops calls. It was barely usable. I hated it (still do) until I figured out how to mitigate the problem.

I'm a heavy user of my mobile devices. I put several applications on it that I require. Google maps for directions, eWallet for passwords...actually..that's all I need. I text message a ton, email a ton.

It turns out thatn once I've loaded up my applications, the phone seems to slow down or something. And this "slowness" only presents itself when on a phone call with all the above symptoms. To fix it, I have to wipe the handheld back to nothing and start over. Once wiped, the phone quality is just fine (I almost said great...but I'm so annoyed with the phone I refuse to say it). But if I add the apps back...after a few days, all my symptoms will come back. I hate this...because the GPS is one of the main reasons I got the phone.

I have two bolds on my AT&T plan. One for an employee who only uses it for the phone features. His has no problems. All three of mine had this issue. Having just switched from Verizon, I was blaming AT&T for the longest time since I couldn't imagine how adding a few apps to the blackberry would impact phone quality. But now I think I'm convinced it's the phone. The only thing AT&T will do is replace it under warranty. They also have this thing where if you replace a phone under warranty three times, they'll let you swap out with a different phone OF THEIR CHOICE. That's not acceptable.

So...I'll tolerate this until the contract is over...and I think I'll go back to Verizon with whatever the current version of the Moto Q is. I did like that phone. I've tried the touchscreen ones (Blackberry and iPhone)...and it was too difficult to type. I used them both for a month each...and didn't like it. It's fine for casual use, but intensive typing is too difficult. I need the buttons.

Product Description

A larger sibling to Dell's Inspiron Mini 9, the Inspiron Mini 10 in alpine white adds keyboard comfort and even more entertainment-friendly dimensions to the Inspiron Mini family. Like the Inspiron Mini 9 and Mini 12, the Mini 10 is a compact, easy-to-carry Internet companion that's ideal for teens, tweens, travelers and "Tweeters" to surf the Web, chat with friends (both via text and using the integrated 1.3-megapixel webcam), stream video and audiocontent, and upload on-the-go photos to blogs or social networking sites. Standard built-in Wi-Fi means quick and easy wireless internet access to hotspots in the home, on campus, in a local coffee shop, in the office or at a conference.

Super thin and ultra-portable, the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 weighs in at just 2.6 pounds.
The Inspiron Mini 10 features an intuitive Dell-developed custom home screen interface that is designed to make it easy to find what you're looking for. Plus, the home screen can be personalized, putting your favorites front and center.

A bright 10.1-inch display is designed to be able to present web sites without a lot of left-right scrolling, and the 92-percent full-size keyboard is large and easy to navigate. An HDMI port also allows you to connect the Mini 10 to your HDTV for large-screen, high-def viewing. Other features include a 160 GB hard drive, 1 GB of RAM (533 MHz; maximum capacity), integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, three USB ports, 3-in-1 memory card reader, and up to 3 hours of battery life.

Offering a range of bright color options, the Inspiron Mini 10 is a great travel companion.
It comes preinstalled with the Microsoft Windows XP Home operating system, which offers more experienced users an enhanced and innovative experience that incorporates Windows Live features like Windows Live Messenger for instant messaging and Windows Live Mail for consolidated email accounts on your desktop.

A Better Keyboard
You won't lose any flexibility with the Mini 10's keyboard. At 92 percent the size of a standard laptop, it's almost as if the Mini 10's keyboard is at full range. Spec Check
1.3 GHz GHz Intel Atom Z520 processor
  • 160 GB hard drive
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 54g Wi-Fi (802.11b/g)
  • Windows XP Home
  • 3-cell battery
  • Up to 3 hours of battery life
  • Weighs 2.6 pounds
Power-Sipping Processor
Newly designed from the ground up, the Intel Atom Z520 uses a 45nm (nanometer) design structure with new hafnium-infused circuitry--which reduces electrical current leakage in transistors--to conserve even more energy and give you more time away from the wall outlet. The Intel Atom Z520 provides a 1.3 GHz CPU speed with a 533 MHz front-side bus (FSB) and 512 KB L2 cache--which uses just 2 watts of power. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance. The FSB carries data between the CPU and RAM, and a faster front-side bus will deliver better overall performance.) It supports Intel's 64-bit computing architecture, which can allow the use of extended virtual and physical memory with compatible 64-bit software, as well as Intel's Hyper-Threading technology for speedier multitasking.

Networking, Connectivity & Expansion
This notebook has an integrated 54g wireless LAN that's fully compatible with 802.11b/g wireless networks. With the integrated Bluetooth connectivity, you can communicate and synchronize with Bluetooth-enabled peripherals such as PDAs and cell phones as well as use Bluetooth-enabled headsets for handsfree video chats. It comes with the following external connectors:

  • 3 USB 2.0 ports (1 powered) for connecting a wide range of peripherals--from digital cameras to MP3 players
  • 1 HDMI output (for connecting to a compatible HDTV or home theater receiver for uncompressed digital audio and video via a single cable)
  • Analog video output: None
  • 10/100 Fast Ethernet networking
  • 1 headphone (line-out) and 1 microphone (line-in)
  • 3-in-1 memory card reader compatible with Secure Digital (SD), Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC), Multimedia Card (MMC), and Memory Stick

The IM10's ports in profile, on the right: audio jacks (line-out, mic in), HDMI, two USB, Ethernet.

On the left side: Kensington lock, power adapter port, USB, 3-in-1 memory card reader.
Dimensions
This laptop measures 10.28 x 7.2 x 1.1 inches and weighs 2.6 pounds.

Even More Storage and Access to Your Files
Dell has teamed up with Box.net to offer exclusive web-based file storage, access and sharing to Inspiron Mini users, including a free Basic plan with 2 GB of remote storage space that's expandable to 25 GB. The Inspiron Mini 12 includes a direct link to a Dell-exclusive home page on Box.net (www.box.net/dell), providing you with an easy way to add incremental online storage space to easily manage your digital lives. Here are some examples on how you could use Dell Remote Access:

  • Remotely control any PC running Windows XP or Vista on your home network as if you were sitting in front of it.
  • If you have a smart phone with document viewers, you can open presentations, spreadsheets, and documents.
