This remote switch works exactly as described. In my specific situation, I don't regularly use my instant hot water dispenser and the plug for it is under my kitchen sink. When the hot water dispenser is "on," it generates a significant warm/hot area under my counter. It is obviously consuming a measurable amount of electricity and periodically makes a rumbling/gurgling sound as it periodically reheats the small water tank. I previously had it plugged into a timer, but I don't use hot water at regular intervals or a specific time of the day, so it was sometimes a hit and miss if the water was hot or not and there are many times when it is being heated when I do not need it.
I found that the routine that works well for me is that when I know that I will need hot water, I simply use the remote to turn on the hot water dispenser (no more bending down and reaching under the sink!) and do some simple cleaning of my kitchen and after several minutes, my water is nice and hot and I've tidied up my kitchen at the same time!
A feature enhancement I think would benefit my situation would be an audible response when turning the unit on or off. Without an audible confirmation, I need to go by the soft "click" heard when the unit is turned on or off. Being under my sink, it is barely audible. A user selectable beep option (of course not everyone would want their remote switch to beep, so it should be user selectable) would provide audible confirmation when I turn this on or off as I have once or twice pushed the "on" button but discovered later that it didn't register and my water heater was not in fact turned on.
All things considered, this product is a winner and works as advertised.

this is the type of devices i like, works and its simple. I have connected to it a 42" TV, suround sound system, PS3, European dvd player/kareoke, hand vaccum cleaner, digital picture frame, so picture the savings!!!

I love it. The only bad thing is that it just brings one remote, but for the price I will order another one just to use the remote in another room. I don't know how much power, if any, I will be saving a year but just to be able to turn all of the annoying standby lights in my bedroom at night, is worth every penny.
Just for your information, in my case I don't have to have the plug in site. I have it behind a desk. I just aim to the wall and it works perfect.
I am only saying how it works for me that does not mean it will be the same for everyone else. Definitely recommended!!!!

I used to bend down behind the furniture to unplug the TV. Now it is so much easier with this energy saving kit.
I can even get my kids to help save energy (They love remote controls).
