This Logitech Harmony 890 has been Factory Refurbished to perform as new. A 90 Day Warranty is included. Logitech's Harmony 890, an upgrade to the Harmony 880 remote control, uses both radio frequency (RF) and infrared (IR) wireless signals to deliver powerful complete control of your home-entertainment system that may be hidden behind cabinets. With a wireless range of up to 100 feet, the Harmony 890 remote sends RF commands to a wireless receiver, which then blasts infrared signals to the components. The Harmony 890 remote makes universal control for home entertainment and advanced lighting systems simple.

I bought this remote as an upgrade to my Harmony 880. I had always lean away from the 890 because of the price tag, but when this remote went on sale I made the leap and I am very happy I did so. This remote features all the ease-of-use of the 880 and adds RF capabilities which allow you to keep your components inside a cabinet while controlling them. Sure, you can accomplish the same objective with a IR-repeater, but the RF to IR-blaster setup means you don't even have to be in the same room to control the music.
At first I was weary about purchasing a refurbished unit. When I opened the first package to see that the device was deeply scratched, I was really disappointed. But Amazon's customer service was excellent. Within 15 minutes of emailing them, I had received an email apologizing for the damaged item and a printable UPS label to return it. They also immediately shipped me another refurbished unit to replace the one that had been damaged. That one arrived it great condition and I sent back the original. I was truly amazed with the way Amazon stood by their product.
Refurbished - Not a Good Idea

I own a Logitech Harmony 890. Three or four of the buttons on it only lasted for a year. I tried to replace the unit with this refurbished unit. The refurbished unit does not work. Checksum errors out of the box. I tried on a desktop computer and a laptop. I contacted Logitech. Logitech said that checksum errors indicate that the unit is un-repairable. Logitech also pointed out that the unit is also out of warrantee. Logitech will not take it back. While all of this was going on, my return window with Amazon expired. Now, I am stuck with throwing the unit away and starting over by ordering a new unit (900 series from Logitech directly). Two lessons: 1) The 890 has issues with buttons failing soon after purchase and the PC connection issues indicate the need for a new model. 2) Refurbished means no warrantee.

I bought this as a replacement for all my remotes.
Which it does. But not flawlessly.
It froze on me for number of times in just in 2/3 weeks alone. Then I removed the battery and inserted it again. But then that does not make sense for this much priced remote.
After sepnding 100$$ I still had to use my older remotes to do some activity some time.
Making it work with my home lighting with X10 was just too complicated and I gave up after spending few hours on that.
I liked one thing though, It has recharging cradle, which is a very convenient feature, which all remotes must have.
I finally returned it.

Works perfect. Line of sight not required. The only pain is that the wireless module has to be updated as well as the remote. The refurb was a terric deal.
Wont charge

I have had this for about 9 months. The cheap contacts have had the metal worn off and wont make contact. I cleaned the contacts with an eraser but it only worked one time. I would not recommend this remote. The refurbished only have a 90 day warranty so you will be out of warranty when the contacts fail.
